COVID-19 Preparedness Plan

This plan will be changed and updated as we move into new phases of the COVID-19 response. 

Crossfire Youth Sports (CYS) is committed to providing a safe and healthy training environment for young athletes. To ensure the safety of everyone involved in our organization, CYS has developed the following Preparedness Plan in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CYS COVID-19 Preparedness Plan follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) guidelines, and Executive Orders issued by the Governor’s office of the state of Minnesota. Coaches, staff members, athletes and parents are responsible for adhering to this plan to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19 at the facilities in which we train.

Attendance Confirmation Is Required

Due to limited group sizes, we need to know in advance that you are coming to our facility. Below are instructions based on the particular training activity.

**Important Note**
All individuals entering a facility must be symptom free of COVID-19/flu/cold for 3 days prior to the training date and must not have a temperature of 100.4 or greater. In addition, an athlete who may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 must report this information to Crossfire staff. 

Private Lessons & Small Group Training
If your training coach has confirmed your lesson time via email or text, no further action is required. Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your scheduled lesson time.

Fall Strength Training - Sep 9th to Oct 13th at 4:30 to 6:00pm
10-pack and 20-pack participants will receive a survey to indicate which days the athlete will be attending. Those who registered for individual training days do not need to confirm registration. If a last minute cancellation is required due to illness or other urgent conflict, send an email to training@gocrossfire.org.

Fall Team Practice
Notify the head coach if you will NOT be attending practice on a particular evening. Otherwise, we assume you will be there.

Arriving at Crossfire Training Center (CTC)

  • Plan to arrive approximately 5-10 minutes before the start of a training session. Do not arrive any earlier than 20 minutes before the session.
  • According the MN Dept of Health guidelines, parents or caregivers should not attend practices.
  • Athletes are required to check in at the front desk, where a temperature check will be conducted for at least the first few weeks of training after CTC reopens.
  • Athlete’s must wash hands or use hand sanitizer upon entering CTC and before starting a training session.
  • Athletes must come to CTC dressed in training gear, with the exception of shoes.
  • Court shoes must be carried in to the facility in a bag or backpack. Do not wear training shoes into the facility.
  • Athletes should bring only the necessary apparel and equipment to practice. Do not bring unnecessary bags, purses, clothes, valuables and other personal items.
  • When changing into training shoes, maintain at least 6 feet of distance. After changing, place all remaining items in your bag or backpack and neatly store it in the appropriate location and not in an aisle or walkway.
  • Athletes should not congregate in less than a 6-foot distance from each other while waiting for the training session to begin.
  • Bring a water bottle that is clearly marked with the participant’s name. Do not share water bottles, sports drinks or food items with any other participant.

Personal Hygiene & Health Etiquette

Upon entering the facility, coaches and athletes must immediately wash their hands or use a hand sanitizer. Athletes and coaches will be instructed to turn away from other individuals and cover their mouth and nose with their sleeve or a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Athletes should avoid touching their face, in particular their mouth, nose and eyes.

Masks & High Risk Training

Masks are required at all times for all staff, coaches and visitors to Crossfire Training Center in compliance to Executive Order 20-81. Athletes must wear a mask when arriving and leaving our facility. When an athlete arrives at the changing area to put on court shoes and store her backpack, she may remove her mask if she so chooses. Masks are strongly encouraged, but not required for athletes on the court during training sessions. Coaches may temporarily remove their mask if exerting themselves during a training activity. 

Physical Distancing & Training Pods

Training activities should be structured to place a strong emphasis on physical distancing of 6 feet or more. In addition, physical contact will be avoided during training (handshakes, high fives, huddles). Training pods will contain a limited number of athletes to ensure we can maintain adequate social distancing. In the case where there is more that one training pod, those groups should remain separate and not intermix with other groups. No competitions or matches are allowed, rather the training sessions should focus on skill development. Future steps may include the allowance of larger groups and increased training flexibility. Updates will be provided as the situation evolves.

Water Bottles

All participants must bring his/her own water bottle to each training session. Do not drink directly from the fountain. It is permissible to refill the water bottle from a fountain that has a remote dispenser. There should be no sharing of water bottles or food items between participants. To avoid confusion, water bottles should be clearly labeled with his/her name.

Facilities and Equipment

Crossfire will employ daily cleaning standards to ensure a clean and safe environment. More frequent cleaning will take place in high-touch areas, including restrooms, doors, counter tops, and athlete changing areas. We will be employing a new cleaning process using Stabilized Aqueous Ozone, which is highly effective and safe. Training equipment, including volleyballs, will be cleaned daily.

Communications and Training

This COVID-19 Preparedness Plan was communicated to CYS Directors and coaches and necessary training was provided prior to the first training session. Additional communication and training will be ongoing and provided to all who did not receive the initial training.

Contact Tracing

Attendance records will be kept and provided to health authorities upon request for contact tracing if necessary.

Assumption of Risk

Crossfire Youth Sports (the “Club”) has established increased preventative and safety measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Employees and representatives of the Club are committed to training athletes in a healthy and safe manner, which includes the enforcement of new guidelines of physical distancing and hygiene standards.

Even with our best efforts to create a safe and healthy training environment, the Club cannot guarantee that you or your child(ren) will not be exposed to or infected by the COVID-19 virus or any other infectious disease. By voluntarily choosing to participate in Club sponsored training, you assume the risk of infection with the COVID-19 virus and other serious communicable diseases. 

Therefore, in consideration for the Club facilitating athletic opportunities for you/your child(ren) during and after this pandemic, you hereby agree to, on behalf of yourself, your child(ren), and your collective heirs, assigns and executors, assume the risk of contracting COVID-19 and other infectious diseases while participating in the Club’s programs, and you hereby waive all claims against Crossfire Youth Sports, its directors, officers, employees, contractors, volunteers, agents, affiliates and guests (collectively “CYS”) for any and all sickness, harm, death, damage or loss, including all related costs, associated with your (in the case of athletes) or your child(ren)’s participation in CYS programs and you hereby release, discharge and otherwise agree to indemnify CYS for all claims or actions of any nature whatsoever arising out of your or your child(ren)’s participation in CYS programs.  Further, you agree that you recognize there may be times that CYS will need to evaluate the risks associated with engaging in competitive play with another player or team or competing in a particular location.  In light of this understanding, you, on behalf of all of the aforementioned parties, agree to fully release, discharge and indemnify CYS for all claims or actions associated with CYS’s decision either to participate or not to participate in competition that may give rise to an increase in risk of contracting COVID-19 or other infectious diseases.

Finally, you are confirming that you understand that if you (in the case of athletes), or your child(ren) participating in the Club’s programs, have any underlying health condition that would put you/them at a higher risk than the general population for serious complications associated with COVID-19 or other infectious diseases, that the Club encourages you to stay home, and that if you or your child(ren) choose to participate despite being at higher risk, you/they do so at

your/their own risk.  You also hereby agree that if you, or your child(ren), exhibit any symptom consistent with the corona virus as published by the Center for Disease Control (“CDC”), that you/they will not participate in Club activities until such time as you/they are no longer contagious, per CDC guidelines. You further agree that if you, or your child(ren), test positive for COVID-19 or are in direct contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, that you will immediately notify the Club so it can take appropriate action to communicate with those who may have had contact with you/them.  You also consent to having an athletic trainer, or medical professional provide you (in the case of athletes), or your child(ren), with emergency medical treatment and you agree to be financially responsible for the cost of such treatment.
